Our Client, an organisation with a track record of achieving excellence and breaking the mould within its chosen field, is looking to fill a pivotal role within the company, with the appointment of a versatile Director of Operational Finance.
Our client has grown consistently over the last decade and is now in the position where it can utilize senior level expertise to facilitate rapid growth and success moving forward. The strategic objectives have now been outlined and what is required now is an individual with sound commercial judgement to guide the business forward, challenge the status quo and constructively make the changes necessary to achieve the desired results.
The successful candidate together, together with the senior management team will take responsibility for ensuring financial integrity, compliance and operational efficiency and driving strategic financial planning across the business. Therefore the remit will not just be about numbers but the following key areas:
* Driving change across the business through controls and financial processes to ensure pragmatic governance, commercial awareness and risk assessment.
* Manage, develop, coach and appraise a team of proven finance professionals (direct and indirect reports).
* Oversee monthly management accounts preparation with a focus on value add analytics for board perusal.
* Monitor, implement and streamline controls to prevent fraud and mismanagement.
* Identify and mitigate against financial risk.
* Ensure systems effectively support business strategy.
* Oversee transactional finance and treasury functions.
* Lead the tax function ensuring compliance with global tax regulations
Candidates will be expected to be able to demonstrate examples of a pragmatic approach where effective decision making has been relied upon and which has subsequently impacted financial activity in a positive way. They will have all of the interpersonal skills required to develop and mentor staff, build long standing external relationships and influence and negotiate where appropriate. Finally, they will be able to contribute across the business providing a perspective that does not just focus on finance but rather across the board.
The Must Haves:
All applications MUST have an impressive academic profile including a professional qualification (ideally ACA) as well as an employment record that conveys loyalty, meritocratic growth and achievement. Experience MUST have been gleaned in either a Head Of or Director role within a medium to large commercial business (no less than £150m turnover) and this will include recently overseeing the implementation of an ERP system. Finally, applicants MUST be within an hour commute of Cambridge.
